Terrified postal workers find highly venomous snake inside parcel in Thailand
Terrified postal workers found a highly venomous snake inside a parcel for delivery in Thailand.
Staff were sorting the packages when they noticed a white paper envelope moving around suspiciously in Kanchanaburi province on September 26.
They thought it was another adult toy blunder but heard hissing sounds so they fled the room and called the animal rescuers for help.
Footage shows the volunteers rummaging through the boxes before spotting the escaped deadly snake wriggling around.
Animal rescuer Paritwat Hengprapan said: ‘Customers should not send animals this way. There are proper services if they want to transport them.'
The team used a hook to pull the snake out of its hiding space before grabbing it with bare hands to secure inside a plastic bottle.
They found out the creature was a highly venomous Malayan krait which they believe was being sent to sell to an exotic pet collector.
Its owner was identified from the information written on the parcel containing the snake. He was contacted to pick up the box and take the snake back.
Volunteer Paritwat added: ‘We have already contacted the courier owner to return the snake. He should also apologize to terrified staff.'
