A shocked housewife found a snake trying to swallow a baby gecko in her garden.

Pongsi Phechngam was about to water the plants when but saw the neon green serpent crawling on the bucket in Chachoengsao province on September 21.

The creature gripped a juvenile lizard in its mouth that was struggling to escape the predator.

However, the frantic woman poked them with a snake to drive them away, giving the lizard a chance to flee.

Resident Pongsi said: 'I felt sad for the lizard but I'm afraid of snakes.'

The snake slithered away leaving the lizard behind. From a nearby wall, a bigger gecko was seen.

The housewife added: ‘Could it be the mother? I don't know too. I'm just happy the baby gecko survived.'
