A deadly 8ft-long king cobra sparked panic after chasing a mouse into a family's home in Thailand.

The enormous creature was stalking the rodent that entered a property's living room in Krabi province on September 26.

It followed the prey towards the door and slithered across the slippery tiled floor to the kitchen, sending the terrified residents out of the house to call rescuers for help.

Footage shows an animal rescue volunteer wearing a headlamp as he searches for the large snake among the boxes behind the house.

The angry snake lunged at the rescuer after failing to hunt the mouse, but it was eventually grabbed by the neck and secured inside a sack.

Experienced snake catcher Sutee Naewhard said: ‘It is dangerous to catch a snake like this, but as I was trained, I knew what to do.

‘I don't suggest anyone who wasn't properly trained to catch snakes alone, especially by using bare hands.'

Sutee tried to capture the cobra with a hook, but as the snake seemed aggressive, it attempted to bite him on the arms twice, which he dodged.

The king cobra was then put in a sack which would be sent to release in its natural habitat.
