Rescue teams are searching flooded villages in northeast Thailand as Typhoon Noru approaches the country today.

Volunteers on motorboats crossed heavy floods to deliver aid to stricken villagers in Ubon Ratchathani province on September 28.

Noru has been downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall in Vietnam on Wednesday morning.

However, authorities have warned of possible floods and landslides across southern Laos, central Vietnam, and northern Thailand as the weather system makes its way inland over the next two days.

The tropical storm is expected to hit Ubon Ratchathani, which is still reeling from continuous heavy rains, on Thursday as it further weakens into a tropical depression, meteorologists said.
