A pair of hapless pet dogs were rescued after they were caught in snare traps laid out for wild animals in Thailand.

The two canines were incapacitated by the barbed metal wire piercing their legs when they were found by villagers in Nakhon Ratchasima province on September 28.

The concerned residents called animal rescuers to help the injured dogs.

A black-and-white pooch was found with one of its paws already severed from its leg. Villagers said it might have ripped up its own flesh while trying to flail free from the sharp metal.

The volunteers were filmed bandaging up the pitiful animal's amputated hind leg while it whined in pain.

Another dog was released from its snare, with the specialists using wire cutters to cut up the metal cable. The trap had left a deep, festering wound on its left hind leg.

The rescuers administered first aid for about 30 minutes before the animals were taken to a veterinarian for further treatment and monitoring.
