A boy opened a cage at a pet store, setting a customer’s cat free in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Chongqing on September 25 shows a 10-year-old boy opening a cage for a golden British shorthair in a pet store and running away quickly.

The cat then walked out of its cage.

According to reports, an employee of the pet store was showering a dog and warned the boy not to touch the cages.

However, the boy sneakily opened the door for the golden British shorthair that the pet store was fostering for a customer.

The pet store owner Ms Lin said to Chongqing Television that a customer bought the cat in her store for 20,000 yuan (£2,500) last year and was fostered in her store.

The cat went missing and has not been found yet. Liu reported the case to the police, but they thought it was a civil dispute and thought they should consider negotiating first.

The boy's father Mr Feng said his son felt it was a pity to lock the cat in the cage, he wanted to save the cat so he opened the cage to set it free.

Feng thought her son was naughty but the employee in the pet store was also negligent.

The two sides failed to coordinate privately and the store owner Ms Feng said she was willing to resolve the matter through the legal system.

9月25日，重庆江津区，一10岁男孩在逛一家宠物店时，偷偷打开猫柜放走一只英短金渐层。宠物猫店长林女士称，猫是客人寄放的，客人去年在店里花2万元买的。关猫柜子的钥匙是放在柜子上面，店里当时有一个店员，正在给狗洗澡。店员提醒过男孩不要乱碰，但男孩趁他不注意开门放走猫咪。林女士称，猫现在还没有找到，已经报警。警方到场后，觉得这属于民事纠纷，首先考虑自行协商处理。
孩子爸爸冯先生介绍，孩子说看到猫咪关在笼子里太可怜，要拯救猫才放走的。孩子确实调皮不懂事儿，自己没有监护好，但店方也有失职的地方。店员看到小孩进店，可以把孩子赶走。当时钥匙就挂在猫柜上，小孩来到店里打开柜门把猫放走，说明店员也没有看好店。另外，猫主人当时花了2万元买猫，不代表这只猫在市场上价值2万元。对于这只猫的价值，应该找人鉴定后确认，再按照现在的市场价格进行赔付，自己愿意承担一半的责任。
目前，双方私下没有协调成功，店主冯女士称愿意通过司法途径解决此事。（视频由重庆台提供）
