An Indonesian police officer is bitten by a dog while disguised as a mass of protesters in a simulation of the city security system in Indonesia.

Footage from a field in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra Province on September 29, shows Indonesian police holding drills to deal with riots under a scenario of a mob rejecting the vote count results in the 2024 general election.

The riots started when there was a commotion between supporters during the campaign period, the theft of boxes containing ballot papers, threats to burn the General Elections Commission (KPU) office, and riots for rejecting the results of the vote count.

Bukittinggi Resort Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police (AKBP) Wahyuni Sri Lestari said the exercise was held to maintain the ability and readiness of police officers to control the crowd.

"The security system in the form of a simulation was held again after more than two years the security officers did not carry out training because of the covid-19 pandemic," AKBP Lestari added.

500 full strength personnel from the police, army and other security officers are trained to anticipate any security disturbances that occur during the 2024 presidential election.
