Scary! Pilot aborts landing at Birmingham Airport during strong winds from the tail end of Hurricane Fiona
This was the moment a pilot took the last second decision to abort landing despite touching down on the runway at Birmingham’s BHX Airport on Saturday 1 October.
The flight, from the Isle of Man, came in to land at 11:27 but strong crosswinds buffeted the plane as it came closer and closer to the runway.
At the point of touchdown, the pilots made the emergency decision to pull up and go around for a second attempt.
The UK has been hit with strong winds from Hurricane Fiona which caused havoc in Canada at the end of September.
Hurricane Ian is currently devastating parts of the USA as the storm season sets off.
The Loganair aircraft came round for a second attempt 14-minutes later and this time successfully landed to the relief of both pilots and passengers alike.
