A brave snake catcher climbed a roof beam to catch a massive 10ft-long python.

The animal rescuer was called to the scene after frantic farmers saw the wild serpent slithering across the 26ft-high ceiling of a covered court in Ratchaburi province, Thailand on September 30.

Without hesitation, the dedicated volunteer scaled the wall without any safety equipment to reach the creature as scared onlookers watched below.

Footage shows the skilful reptile handler clinging to steel beams while extending his pole to reach the snake.

The rescue worker said: ‘I don't recommend anyone catching snakes on their own because rainy season snakes are fierce and hungry, and they may injure you.'

Locals were reportedly drying crops inside the roofed structure when they noticed the animal preying on them above.

The rescuers first used a water hose to push the snake down but it went further up the ceiling.

After failing to bring the snake down with water from a fire hose, the brave rescue worker climbed onto the ceiling from the side wall.

As he edged closer, the snake moved away while lunging at him a couple of times, making the job even more difficult.

After trying for 30 minutes, the man received a long bamboo stick from below, which he used to pinch the snake closer to him and hook on the snake's neck before taking the snake down.

The locals thanked the rescue team as they took it in a sack away from the village.
