A row of electricity posts fell like dominoes and smashed at least four cars following heavy rain and storms in northern Thailand.

The concrete poles toppled over one by one along the side of the Den Chai-Lampang highway, crashing into cars and sending sparks flying as the wires hit the asphalt in Phrae province on October 1.

Dash cam footage shows one of the posts slamming down on a truck, narrowly missing the driver's cabin, with the driver emerging from his seat apparently uninjured.

Motorist Jadjah Natthacha, who had been in the car behind the delivery truck, said: 'The road was recently opened. I think the posts fell because they weren't installed properly in the first place.'

Den Chai district authorities claimed no one was injured in the accident, while 13 electrical posts and at least four cars were reportedly damaged.

Officials blamed heavy rain and storms from Typhoon Noru battering the country last week for weakening the foundations of the electricity posts.
