Aerial footage shows scale of floods left by Typhoon Noru in Thailand
This aerial footage shows the scale of floods left by Typhoon Noru in Thailand.
The drone video shows floodwaters of 30 cm submerging the Phimai district of Nakhon Ratchsima province, inundating government offices and residents' homes on October 2.
The water level reportedly surged to as high as 70 cm in front of the local police station, preventing people from entering or exiting.
Authorities warned that the flooding in Phimai district might worsen since the area is affected by the overflowing of both the Mun and Lam Chiang Krai rivers running along the area.
The region's Water Distribution and Maintenance Center is also reportedly running 20 engines to release water from the Phimai Dam into the Mun River.
Noru made landfall in Vietnam last Wednesday and has weakened to a tropical depression as it moved across Thailand on Thursday, September 29.
One person in Thailand's Sisaket province died after powerful winds knocked a tree onto a pickup truck, injuring two others inside.
In the Philippines, where Noru first struck, at least 10 people have been killed and an estimated 50,000 displaced by the severe weather.
