Two huge monitor lizards ram-raided a family's kitchen in search of food while a father made his lunch.

The pair of 4ft-long creatures smashed through the screen door of a home while the man prepared food in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 28.

The first lizard rammed its head into the door to knock it open before a second one followed inside. they appeared to be like 'accomplices' staging a heist.

Footage shows the reptiles entering the property while a shocked house owner retreated to the living room. They then retreated menacingly shortly after.

His son Tor Petchneam said: ‘I heard my dad calling us to hide because of the large lizards. One is scary but there were two. It looked the two were accomplices.'

The lizards followed the father inside the house and appeared to look for food but as the edible supplies were on top of the counter, the creatures did not find any.

Instead, one of the lizards hid under the living room sofa while the other one decided to give up and left about 15 minutes later.

Tor added: ‘We called neighbours to help us drive away the lizard. We used a broom to scare it out of the house.'

The damaged kitchen door was repaired later that day to prevent the reptiles from entering the house again.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
