The Japanese public warning system asks residents to take shelter as Nord Korea fires a suspected ballistic missile over the country. Sirens can be heard in the clip.

Japanese people woke up to the rare alert on Tuesday morning (October 4).

Residents in Hokkaido and Aomori were warned to take cover after the coast guard reported the suspected launch.

Land and air traffic were briefly halted following the alert.

Fumio Kishida, Japan's Prime Minister, said that the launch constituted
"violent behaviour".

Nord Korea's leader Kim Jong-un believes that the recent naval exercises that Japan, the US, and South Korea have conducted are a clear call to war. The three countries are working together the reduce the threat posed by the country's leadership.
