An alert cop rushed to the rescue of a man, who slipped while getting on a moving train in eastern India's West Bengal.

The incident happened at the Bardhaman station on October 6.

Visuals showed the man being dragged by the train as he held on to one of the handles, in an attempt to get on. He slipped and fell and came close to falling into the gap between the train and the platform. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) cop, Amitav Mondal, who was present at the spot, quickly pulled the man out of harm's way and rescued him.

The passenger later was identified as Arvind Kumar. Aged 56, he had gotten down the train to get some water and biscuits. Realising that the train had already started, he rushed back and fell down in an attempt to board the vehicle.

He was reportedly travelling from Sealdah to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.
