Sheerness Shannon class Lifeboat official naming ceremony in Kent. UK

Sheerness Lifeboat station's new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat was officially named with a special service of dedication this morning (October 8).

Sheerness in Kent is a busy lifeboat station operating in the Thames Estuary.

The naming ceremony was held at nearby Crundall's Wharf, Queenborough, with the vessel officially named 'Judith Copping Joyce' (number 13-38).

The ceremony was conducted by Cllr Cameron Beart (Chair of Sheerness Lifeboat Management Group), Anthony Copping Joyce, Ryan Hall (RNLI Head of Region for South East), Nigel Budden (Sheerness Lifeboat Operations Manager) and Father Colin Johnson.
