Singer Ed Sheeran gives impromptu concert on Ipswich high street
After his tour of Germany Ed Sheeran returned to Suffolk where he grew up. On Friday 7th January around 4pm he started an impromptu hour long performance on the steps of the Town Hall on the Cornhill in Ipswich. He performed around 8 songs over 1 hour. As word got around a crowd of about 1000 slowly formed. One young fan at the front had a toy guitar that Ed spotted. Clearly he felt a connection since Ed had started playing at the age of 11. He offered the child the guitar along with the amp and speaker on the condition that he practised daily. He signed the guitar and sang one last song before handing it over.
