A sneaky monkey stole a resident's parcel and climbed on a roof to unbox it in Malaysia.

The curious macaque grabbed the bubble-wrapped package lying inside a family's garage in Selangor on September 28.

It inspected the object, hoping to find snacks, but when the owner came out to retrieve it, the cheeky creature ran away with its loot.

Footage shows the animal tightly clutching the bag and ignoring the resident as he asks for the parcel back.

Resident Khairin Nazh said: ‘I heard the delivery rider call outside, and we told him to just leave the parcel there because we are coming out in a moment.

‘I was shocked when the monkey beat me to it in only minutes. This monkey might be a professional thief.'

The animal climbed up the resident's home roof to be alone with its treasure. Like fruit, the creature slowly peeled off the bubble wrap from the parcel.

However, the creature was disappointed when the long roll of plastic revealed a glittery tube of lip and cheek tint serum in the shade of pink.

Khairin added that the cosmetic was meant as a gift for his younger sister.

He said: ‘I bought the make-up online for my sister because she was doing great in school. I kept telling the monkey that there was no food inside, but he wouldn't listen or understand what I was saying.

‘It looked at me blankly and went climbing further up.'

The defeated monkey fled the property but left the cosmetic on the roof and the bubble-wrap trash from when it unboxed the parcel.

The resident then climbed up to retrieve and clean up the roof when it was clear of the wild animal.

He said: ‘I washed the makeup and gave it to my sister. It was unopened, but the box was destroyed.'
