A couple were left stunned when they found a raccoon "drunk and passed out" with its head hanging over the edge of a table after it found a bottle of moonshine.

Tracey Kearney’s husband Bobby, 50, had been enjoying a few drinks on their deck in Waverly, Ohio, US, before heading to bed on June 22.

Hilarious footage, which has been viewed more than 11 million times, shows the couple's unexpected guest lying motionless on their table next to a spilt mason jar of liquor.

Tracey, 48, found the raccoon was still breathing and was merely flat-out drunk from having downed some of Bobby’s alcohol from the night before.

Tracey said: “Bobby had golfed the evening before and after getting home he likes to finish strong on the back deck with music and whatever alcohol he can find in the fridge.

“That night happened to be moonshine and Metallica. I was annoyed and went to bed.

“That morning when I was getting ready for work, Bobby woke up and realised he had left the hose on all night.

“He ran out to turn it off and when coming back up onto the deck he noticed our cat staring at the table. It was staring at the raccoon. He called me out to see what was wrong.

“I started videoing so I could potentially show my dad and see if he knew what could be wrong.

“That's when we noticed it was breathing and there was an empty moonshine jar next to it.

“To my husband’s best recollection there was half a mason jar left that the raccoon apparently drank.”

Bobby moved the raccoon to a shaded part of their garden and the couple fed it water from a syringe to keep it hydrated before the animal woke up woozy 12 hours later.

Tracey said: “My husband and friend carried it out to the edge of the woods where it was cooler. It was still breathing but not moving.

“I'm a nurse so I got syringes full of water, pulled down its bottom lip with a stick and started giving it fluids. It still didn't move or even blink but its tongue started licking the water.

“We spent the evening playing cards on the deck and taking turns ‘watering’ the raccoon. Finally, about 12 hours later, we went out and it was standing there.

“It would fall over when it tried to walk. We left a water bowl and a piece of pizza. A few hours later the raccoon was gone.”
