Greedy python slithers into pet cage and eats TWO CATS in Thailand
A greedy python slithered into a pet cage and ate two cats in Thailand.
The hungry 10ft-long serpent stalked the felines who were sleeping inside the pen next to their owner's home in Ang Thong province.
It slithered through the blue nets wrapped around the enclosure and pounced on the dozing creatures before swallowing them whole.
The snake barely moved out of the cage after stuffing a huge meal into its belly. The terrified pet owner spotted it the next morning on October 10 before rescuers were called to evacuate the animal.
Footage shows the python with a bulging stomach lying inside the kennel as the grieving pet owner informed rescue volunteers what happened.
Snake wrangler Ratha Tapianthong responded to the scene said: ‘The snake might have been hunting these cats for a while now and waited for an opportunity to attack. It prepared itself for a huge meal and could swallow two cats in one meal.'
The animal rescuer entered the 4ft-high cage and dragged the python out.
To the horror of the pet owner, the snake vomited out the two cats - first the black feline, followed by the striped one with their collars still intact.
The heartbroken pet owner showed pictures of her cats when they were still alive.
She said: ‘My cats slept in the cage with the nets around to prevent mosquitos from biting them. I looked for them in the morning so they could have breakfast, but I found the snake instead.
‘I feel really sorry for my cats. I will miss them so much.'
Snake wrangler Ratha placed the snake inside a bag and released the creature back into the wild, away from the village.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
