A giant python was caught in a durian farm after swallowing a wild boar in Thailand.

The 13ft-long serpent stalked a 15kg pig inside the orchard, hiding under thick grass after eating its meal in Narathiwat province.

It could barely move with its bulging belly when passing locals found it on October 4 and called his neighbours for help.

Footage shows the python struggling to move as rescuers poked its massive body with a stick.

Local Sent Nokkhau said: ‘I thought the snake was a large tree trunk, but I saw the spots and realised it was a python.

‘It had an abnormally large stomach and could not crawl away even after hearing us approaching.'

The resident added that the snake might have eaten a wild boar that frequented the area to feed on vegetation.

He said: ‘It ate a wild boar. There are many boars around that eat the grass and roots.'

The locals pulled the snake away from the property and informed the officials that it could grow bigger and feed on their livestock next.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and cities, causing them to conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
