Unbelievable! Indian artist does stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth with typewriter
An Indian man does a stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the help of his typewriter.
Gurumurthy, a former bank employee, has been creating art in his free time for the past 54 years. His typewriter has become a tool for him to portray the celebrities that he loves the most.
“While I was working at the bank, I held exhibitions in my city and different places in Maharashtra. I decided to retire in 2001 to dedicate myself to this passion on a full-time basis. My first portrait was of Robert Kennedy on the day of his assassination. I finished it in two hours", he said.
He can type with a speed of 95 words per minute, but when it comes to art, he takes his time to make the perfect drawing. So far, he has made only black-and-white portraits using Indian ink.
To make one of these beautiful portraits, Gurumurthy first conceptualizes the drawing. He then makes a rough sketch and puts the sheet into the typewriter. That's when he starts typing horizontally and vertically to create the artwork. Light and dark shades are obtained by applying various pressure and leaving blank spaces. He types multiple times to obtain stunning effects for the eyebrows, nose, and mouth.
Gurumurthy says: "Even a slight mistake can be disastrous".
