Drowning squirrel rescued from flood then brought back to life with CPR
This is the heartwarming moment a drowning squirrel was rescued from a flood - then brought back to life with CPR.
The hapless rodent was struggling to stay afloat when it was found by rescuers rowing through a flooded road in Ubon Ratchathani province on October 10.
Refusing to let the creature drown, the volunteers waded through the dirty water, with one rescuer extending his paddle for the squirrel to latch onto.
They pulled the little animal onto their boat and pumped its chest hoping to revive it after it had stopped moving.
Cheers erupted when the animal blinked, indicating it was alive.
Volunteer rescuer Bin Bunluerit said: 'I was waiting for the water to turn clear before catching the squirrel with my paddle.
'No life is too small to leave behind. We will release the squirrel somewhere safe. Maybe near our home.'
Large parts of northeast Thailand have suffered severe floods in recent weeks.
Meteorologists have blamed climate change for the sustained heavy rain, which has been hitting the Thai capital and provinces around the country causing severe floods for several weeks.
Thailand's Center for Climate Change and Disaster claimed the coming months could see heavier, longer rainfalls, due to 'climate change'.
Local media reported that the country has this year seen 'an unusually sustained and persistent rainy season'.
The heavy rain has been compounded by the deluge from Typhoon Noru, which dumped water in the northeast region of the country, causing rivers flowing into the central region to swell.
