A frantic frog escaped medical students doing anatomy class at a university in the Philippines.

The amphibian was about to be dissected with a sharp knife when it leapt out of its container in the capital Manila on September 6.

It then hopped across the room and broke out of the room, succeeding in its getaway plan.

Footage shows the frog jumping away as students in lab gowns and gloves struggled to catch it.

Aspiring doctor Lorraine Pagdato said: ‘It was during class. We are first-year students. We were experimenting with the relationship between muscle length and tension using a frog, but it jumped off the table.

‘My classmates could not catch the frog, so we just let it off the room.'

The frog later found its way back to the garden of the school.
