Customs officials intercepted and seized over nine kilograms (19.84 lbs) of gold from a male passenger at an airport in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place on the intervening night of October 11 and 12 at the Mumbai Airport, located in the namesake city.

Visuals showed officials recovering the gold from a specially made chest belt. The gold was concealed in the cavity of the belt.

According to officials, 9.895 kilograms (21.8 lbs) of gold, valued at Rs 5.20 crore (USD 631,634.64), were seized from the passenger.
