Police seize 2,000 packets of liquor, car from smugglers in southern India

Police officers intercepted a car upon suspicion and seized 2,000 packets of liquor and the vehicle itself from smugglers, in southern India's Andhra Pradesh.

The incident happened in Chittoor district of the state on October 15.

Visuals showed the liquor, which was worth Rs 1 lakh (USD 1,213.32) that was seized by the police. The vehicle, a Chevrolet car, worth Rs 5 lakh (USD 6,066.62) in which the items were being smuggled, was too seized. According to a report, the police intercepted the car, that was coming from Bengaluru and conducted a search, after which they found out the liquor. They also arrested two people, identified as S Maniganda and NP Praveen. A third person, named Kumaresan, escaped and fled the spot.

The two were interrogated and it was revealed that they smuggled the liquor from Karnataka to the neighbouring state of Maharashtra and made a lot of money from it.
