The evacuation started when a resident of Padang, the Jati area, saw a monkey pinned to an electric pole and called the fire department to evacuate. The head of the Padang fire department said "the evacuation went rather smoothly from the monkey and the officers were not electrocuted, the fire brigade turned off the electricity in the area temporarily,".

"It is suspected that the monkey was a pet monkey that got loose, because the monkey was caught due to the chain wrapped around the cable, the officers evacuated it by cutting iron scissors, but after successfully evacuating, the monkey immediately ran away"
