This is the moment a Tesla burst into flames in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian - after a top official warned of increased electric car blazes. A fierce fire can be seen underneath the red vehicle in a short clip taken in Naples, Florida, last week (October 11). The state was battered by Hurricane Ian, with at least 100 people killed, and billions of dollars worth of damage caused. Florida's fire marshal, Jimmy Patronis, has warned of a further danger - electric cars bursting into flames. He tweeted: "There’s a ton of EVs (electric vehicles) disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. "That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale." Footage shows firefighters spraying the Tesla with water in a bid to dampen the undercarriage flames. The cause of the blaze in the video is unclear - but an eyewitness claimed: "There's word this was the seventh Tesla fire since Hurricane Ian." Florida is only behind California for most electric vehicles on the road at more than 95,000 registered in the state, reports say. Tesla was approached for comment.
