A Russian fighter-bomber plane crashed into a residential building in Yeysk, Russia, yesterday (October 17), leaving at least 13 dead. An engine fire is believed to be the cause of the crash.

According to the defence ministry, the plane took off at the nearby Yuzhny airbase before crashing in the southern Russian town.

This footage shows one of the pilots, who managed to eject from the aircraft, lying on the ground on his back close to the burning block of flats.

The man looks conscious, but cannot get up and unhook the parachute on his own. People around him ask how they can help as well as how to unfasten the parachute.

A woman asks him: "Were they shot down, right?", suggesting the plane was attacked. He answers: "No".

Both pilots survived the plane crash.
