A Canadian tourist has been arrested after he was seen rollerblading through busy traffic in a red light district in Thailand.

Jordan Joseph Mciver, 37, shocked drivers as he whizzed through vehicles in the Nana district fn the Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok on October 16.

Footage shows the holidaymaker weaving between cars and motorcycles - just inches away from being struck.

Police started an investigation and traced Jordan to a nearby holiday rental. He admitted to rollerskating on the road and was fined 1,000 Baht (23.15 GBP).

Police Colonel Nimit Nuphonthong from the Lumpini district police station said: ‘He is staying at a nearby property. We checked the CCTV surveillance cameras and confirmed that the Canadian national was skating along the road at about 3.45 PM.

'He wasn't aware of Thai law. We informed him that his action is an offence to which he agreed to pay the penalty and said that he won't repeat it'

The tourist admitted to being the person in the video that had surfaced on social media. He also said that he was skating to exercise and enjoy the city's atmosphere.

Jordan said: 'I thought that I was only exercising and didn't know it would be a problem. I'm sorry if I caused a danger to other road users.'

Anyone who obstructs the safety or convenience of the public road by abandoning things or by doing anything on the road will be fined 1,000 THB according to the law.'

The Nana area of Bangkok, where Jordan was rollerblading, is notorious for its strip clubs, seedy bars, street prostitutes and massage parlours.
