UK man arrested after three-week-old baby boy found dead in Birmingham

A 29-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of today (Tue) on suspicion of murdering a three-week-old baby boy in Birmingham. Police and ambulance crews dashed to a house in Dovey Road, in Sparkhill, just after 3.40am and found the baby was not breathing. The tot was rushed to hospital by paramedics but he was pronounced dead a short time later. A 26-year-old woman also suffered non life-threatening injuries in the same incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with death. Inspector Neil Kirkpatrick, of West Midlands Police, said: “This is a real tragedy and our thoughts go out to everyone involved. “We’ll have extra officers in the area over the coming days to offer reassurance.”
