This is the terrifying moment a deadly cobra was found hissing in a couple's toilet.

The ferocious serpent swam through the sewers and ended up at the property's bathroom in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand, on October 6.

Housewife Inchalita Pontanasinpong discovered the snake swimming in the bowl when and shut the lid closed before calling animal rescuers for help.

Footage shows the hissing aggressive cobra behind the toilet as it evaded the noose of rescuers.

Inchalita said: 'I had goosebumps upon seeing the snake. It could have attacked us while we were sleeping if I didn't find it on time. It was my first time being with a cobra this close.'

The wife tried flushing the snake down several times before closing the toilet lid and locking the bathroom door.

However, they heard knocking sounds before the rescuers arrived which she said meant that the snake had escaped and was knocking over items in the bathroom.

She said: ‘I called my husband for help and we waited for the rescuers to arrive but it jumped out of the toilet.'

When the rescuers arrived, they found the snake slithering on the tile floor appearing to look for a way out.

They caught the snake using a noose and a pole after cornering it on the toilet. They took the snake out of the property to release into the wild.

Relieved housewife Inchalita added: ‘The rescue volunteer got rid of the snake for me. I hope the creature does not return and scare other people in the neighbourhood.'
