Homes swept away as thunderstorm floods village in the Philippines
This is the dramatic moment two houses were swept away by floods caused by a thunderstorm in the Philippines.
The wooden homes were uprooted and drifted away on the high water after the freak weather caused a nearby creek to burst its banks in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental province on October 16.
Helpless residents could only sob as they watched the deluge destroy their belongings.
At least 2,000 people fled their homes when the floodwaters suddenly rose due to overflowing rivers, local officials said.
State weather bureau PAGASA said Cagayan de Oro and other areas in the northern part of the country's Mindanao island were being battered by localised thunderstorms.
No casualties have been reported from the widespread flooding so far.
