This is the heartwarming moment a paraplegic villager used a DIY elevator to enter his house in Thailand.

Disabled Wichai Huabnuam, 44, rolls onto the makeshift lift in his wheelchair while his relatives manually operate the chain pulley.

The contraption has made life easier for Wichai, who had been relying on his family to carry him up to the house supported by stilts to escape floods in Sukhothai province.

Wichai's wife, Saowaluck Jupan, 46, said: 'My husband has hemiplegia so my brother used his savings and built an elevator for him.

'He spent 6,000 Baht buying the materials and made everything from scratch. I recently found that I have a brain tumor so I guess the elevator will be really useful for our house.'
