A strong-willed pig survived 45 days under a collapsed house due to a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in southern China.

Video filmed in the county of Luding in Sichuan Province on October 19 shows a man using an electric saw to open a hole through debris to rescue a trapped pig.

The owner Ms. Deng said she thought the pig was dead after the earthquake hit. However, she heard some noises yesterday and found the pig was still alive.

Since the pig could only eat the corn falling from the house roof, its weight decreased from 100kg to only 50kg.

Deng thought the pig was strong-willed, and as it lost weight, she will take care of it.

Local media provided the video with permission.
