Hundreds of British Hong Kongers march in response to Manchester Chinese Consulate assault

British Hong Kongers took to the streets in response to an incident last week that took place outside the Chinese Consulate in Manchester. Pro-democracy protester Bob Chan was reportedly dragged into the grounds and beaten (October 23) after staff emerged from the building, grabbed posters demonstrators had placed outside the gate and a commotion broke out.

Hundreds moved off from Whitehall, being led by protesters holding a sign saying: 'Deport CCP officials who attacked innocent Bob Chan', while others carried Hong Kong independence, colonial-era and Turkestan Uyghur flags.

After being delayed by torrential rain, protesters regrouped outside the Chinese Embassy to chant slogans and point lasers into windows and onto the CCTV cameras - a feature of some Hong Kong anti-government protests, designed to confuse police.
