A car slipped downhill into a fish pond after the driver forgot to put on their handbrake in northern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Yan'an in Shaanxi Province on October 20 shows a man stopping his car and stepping out of it to watch other people fishing.

After around 10 minutes, the car started to slip down a slope and ended up falling into the fish pond.

According to a local source named Mr Chen, the motorist did not pull the handbrake and the wheels were out of alignment, causing the vehicle to slip into the pond.

The car was lifted out of the pond by a crane and the motorist has claimed the insurance.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
