Diwali: war of firecrackers between two villages lights up sky
People celebrating the Diwali festival in India throw firecrackers in the air and at each other as part of a 100-year-old unique ritual.
The popular fight is locally known as "Ingoriya ni Ladai" and translated into English as "war using ingoriya", a local fruit that grows in abundance in the region. Gunpowder is stuffed in these little fruits that are then used as crackers. Locals say these traditional firecrackers do not explode but only generate huge flames when fired.
The ritual, which takes place at night, is a proper war of firecrackers between the villagers of Savar and Kundla. The river Navli separates the inhabitants. The group that has run out of all its firecrackers loses.
Ingoriya ni Ladai was suspended for two years due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The footage was filmed in Amreli , Gujrat, India.
