Bridesmaids cross raging river to reach friend’s wedding in the Philippines
This is the moment determined bridesmaids crossed a raging river to reach their friend's wedding in the Philippines.
The girls wore black wrap-around dresses while walking barefoot across the muddy overflowing body of water following days of heavy rain in Cebu City, on October 8.
Kind locals guided them across the water, with one of the residents offering to hold their bouquets of flowers while they treaded on violent currents, which came after recent tropical storms.
Footage shows the barefoot wedding entourage moving to the other side of the river while clutching their high heeled shoes.
One of the birdesmaids Mary Espaltero said: ‘We were so scared. There was heavy rain and sometimes lightning but we loved our friends so much. We were willing to cross the storm for them.'
The girls did not expect that they would be caught on the thunderstorm while on their way to the church.
Mary added: ‘The church was near their house and there was no proper road to reach it. We had to walk through the storm or we won't catch the ceremony.'
Despite the delay, the bridesmaids arrived at the wedding safely. Their make-up was retouched by the thankful bride but they were drenched in water as there were no spare dresses available.
Mary added: ‘The dress was black so it was fine. We were wet but it didn't show in the pictures.'
