Hundreds of students went on strike in Madrid to raise awareness for mental health.
Footage from October 27 shows the large group of students marching through the city demanding an "urgent shock plan" for mental health.
The students were heard chanting: "Talking about suicide helps prevent it."
Estudiantes se han manifestado este jueves, convocados por el Sindicato de Estudiantes, en ciudades de toda España en defensa de la salud mental y para reclamar un "plan de choque urgente". Por este motivo, la organización ha convocado una huelga estudiantil y concentraciones en Madrid, en Cataluña, Andalucía, el País Vasco, la Comunidad Valenciana, Galicia, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, La Rioja y Extremadura.
"Hablar del suicidio ayuda a prevenir", han coreado los asistentes a la manifestación madrileña, mientras partían de la Plaza de Callao para avanzar por la Gran Vía en dirección a la Plaza de Cibeles.
La huelga estudiantil, según ha asegurado la secretaria General del Sindicato de Estudiantes, Coral Latorra, ha tenido un seguimiento del 90 por ciento en todo el territorio nacional. "Ha sido una huelga con mucho seguimiento", ha señalado Latorre en declaraciones a los medios durante la concentración en Madrid.
En la manifestación de la capital, cientos de estudiantes han pedido la dimisión de la presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. "Defendemos la educación pública, ¡Fuera Ayuso!", apuntaban algunas pancartas portadas por los jóvenes.
