A misunderstanding saw a group of elderly people unintentionally steal potted plants from a park in northern China.

Video filmed in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province on October 25 shows elderly people using plastic bags and trolleys to take potted chrysanthemums away from a park.

According to a worker, the park held a chrysanthemum exhibition every year.

Since some flowers were about to die and an elderly person wanted them, a worker handed some over.

However, some residents saw the scene and thought they could take the potted flowers for free and spread the news on social media.

The management officers in the park have intensified patrol, no one has been seen taking the flowers away anymore.

10月26日，园区一名工作人员大吐苦水：
“公园每年都会举行一次菊花展

菊花展还未结束，

不知道谁传的‘菊花随便拿’，

好多人过来搬花，

现在好花都被快被糟践完了。

我们也在劝阻，

但有些人都开始动起手来了，

我们只好叫警察来。”

工作人员表示，遭抢的缘由是因为有些花快死了，老人想要，就给装车上了，可能被哪位市民看到了，以为可以随便拿花，就发到社交圈传播，没想到第二天人山人海地来拿花。
工作人员还表示，原本展览应该到10月底，可现在花都让他们糟践完了，现场不堪入目，即使派人看着，照样有人来搬花，上前劝阻也无济于事。
目前，公园管理处已经加强了巡逻和管理，已看不到有人在搬菊花了。
