Shimansky, the South African diamond retailer, has re-opened its diamond museum at the Rockwell Hotel in Cape Town, as the Mother City prepares for a bumper tourist season this summer. The museum closed during the Covid-19 pandemic and officially opened again to much fanfare.

Yair Shimansky, the owner of Shimansky Jewellers, welcomed Western Cape Premier Alan Winde to the event. Winde said the Western Cape tourism industry was decimated by the pandemic and Shimansky re-opening signalled the rebirth of the tourism industry in Cape Town and the Western Cape.

Shimansky’s “diamond experience” hosts guests and treats them to the full diamond experience. Showing guests how diamonds are graded, cut and processed all within a luxurious setting which includes a well stocked bar.

The event was attended by local celebrities, tourism officials and political figures. Premier Winde and Yair Shimansky cut a red ribbon as guests were welcomed into the building for champagne, drinks and a wine and chocolate pairing.
