A shopkeeper and a customer had a lucky escape when a mobile phone battery exploded like a bomb during repair work on 22 October.

CCTV footage from the OM Sai Ram mobile phone shop in Pali village in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, showed the sudden ball of flame as the gadget ignited on the counter as shopkeeper Mahesh Chaurasia started inspecting it.

Mr Chaurasia said that he and the customer were lucky they reacted so quickly because things could have been much worse if they hadn't. Incredibly, neither was badly hurt.

The shopkeeper said the customer had came to his shop complaining that his mobile battery was not charging.

Shop owner Mahesh tells we were lucky enough to quickly get back in a fraction of second otherwise there could be a major mishap .
Mahesh tells that the customer came.to his shop with a complaint that his mobile battery is not getting charged .
