Severe Tropical Storm Nalgae, locally named Paeng, battered the Philippines with sustained winds of 95 kilometers (59 miles) per hour and gusts of up to 160 kph (99 mph), and moved northwestward just south of Manila on Saturday, October 29.

Landslides and major flooding were reported in the southern region, leaving 48 dead and 22 others missing, according to the disaster agency.
