Devotees, many of them women, gathered around northern India for the Chhath Puja festival on Sunday 30 October.

Chhath is a Hindu festival mostly celebrated in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. It is dedicated to Lord Sun.

During the four days of the festival, Devotees throng the banks of rivers, ponds and lakes to bathe and offer argha (worship rituals) to the setting and rising sun.

The video shows women participating in Chhath Puja, which is considered to be a major festival for women.

Thousands of women gathered for the event, on the riverbanks of Prayagraj city.
