This is the moment rescuers removed three 'nut rings' from a woman's hand after her fingers began to swell painfully while wearing them in Thailand.

The rescue team rushed to a hospital in Chai Nat province on October 26 after receiving a call from doctors, who were unable to cut the makeshift accessories on their own.

The villager named Khetsinee, 37, had bought the nuts from a junk shop, and worn them as jewellery for more than a month on her right ring finger, and left index and middle fingers.

However, she found that she could no longer pull the rings loose when her digits began swelling grotesquely due to lack of circulation.

Footage shows how the volunteers used diamond cutters to saw through the constricting pieces of metal. They protected Khetsinee's fingers with a steel sheet to prevent the tool from cutting her flesh.

After a grueling hour of work, the team finally freed her fingers.

Rescue volunteer Passakorn Muenkla said: ‘The woman's fingers had become so swollen they looked like they were about to rot.

'Fortunately she went to the doctor before they caused worse damage.'
