Street food vendors use large wooden hammers to pound sweet peanut street food snack
Street food vendors use giant wooden hammers to pound this sweet peanut street food snack in Thailand.
Footage shows the sugary desserts called 'tub-tap' being smashed by two men after a long cooking procedure in the capital Bangkok.
These oval-shaped snacks are made purely of peanuts and sugar. Then name came from the sound that the mallet makes while making them.
Vendors on the street food stalls first heat water and sugar to form a syrup. When it is golden brown in colour, the syrup is allowed to cool briefly before being poured over the nuts.
Roasted peanuts are added and mixed together, then flattened and kneaded into a square shape which is then smashed by mallets.
Tub-tap is a popular snack during the vegetarian festival, which is held each year from September through October.
