Man dressed as giant squirrel hand-feeds squirrel he nursed back to health
A man dressed in a giant squirrel costume hand-fed nuts to a wild squirrel he helped nurse back to health.
Katie Hof and her partner Luke Malone were trying on Halloween costumes on October 29 when a critter called Fin appeared in the tree outside their house.
Adorable footage shows Luke wandering over towards the tree before crouching down a safe distance from the squirrel before it ran over and accepted a snack from his hand.
Luke had cured Fin’s mange the previous year and is able to hand feed her and her daughter as a result outside his Cedar Rapids, Iowa, home.
Katie said: “Luke has been feeding the squirrels for a couple of years now.
“He keeps a small bag of peanuts near his window so he can just open it and hand-feed or toss them to the squirrels every morning.
“So that was the inspiration for our costumes. I bought a burlap bag and painted it so I could go as a bag of nuts.
"Fin is an older female squirrel and last year he cured the mange on her arm using tiny doses of horse ivermectin.
“He's able to feed her daughter by hand as well. He's a dad of three with a huge heart and a wonderful sense of humour."
