Norwegian tourist arrested after 'carjacking taxi from airport in Thailand'
A crazed Norwegian tourist was arrested after allegedly car-jacking a taxi from an airport in Thailand.
The middle-aged man had just arrived on a low-cost flight from the capital Bangkok when he reportedly jumped into the waiting car and pushed out the driver at Krabi International Airport on Monday afternoon.
Shocked cabbie Suthep Kachaphon, 53, said he was flung to the ground before the Scandinavian 'mad man' sped away erratically.
Shockingly, the tourist allegedly continued the ride for more than 60 miles before he was arrested when he stopped to buy a can of Pepsi from a grocery shop in the Huai Yot district of neighbouring Trang province.
Furious taxi driver Suthep went to retrive his car, which had sustained dents and scratches from allegedly hitting a number of vehciles during the rampage.
Suthep said: 'The foreigner sat in the back of my taxi and said he wanted to go to Bangkok. I was confused because he had just arrived from there, so I said I couldn't take him.
'He was angry and came to the front of the car and pulled me out. Then he drove away.
'I have lost all my earnings from today and I had to go to collect my car. Now I also have to pay for all of the repairs which will be quite a lot.'
Police said that the Norwegian refused to give his name and he had no ID on him when he was arrested. He was remanded in custody.
Colonel Cheuchat Yeawdham said: 'The suspect did not co-operate and did not give his name. He was remanded in custody and officers traced his details from the airport.'
