A new glass skywalk viewing platform overlooking the 'Golden Triangle' and Mekong River has opened in northern Thailand.

The Pha Ngao Skywalk was inaugurated in Chiang Rai province on October 27, offering tourists a stunning view of the borders between Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.

Two octagonal decks standing 25 metres above the ground are connected to the Phra That Phuttha Nimit pagoda via glass walkways.

The structure is located some 400 metres away from the spectacular Mekong River.

Construction of the 32-million-baht project began in 2020, with the opening marking the King Chulalongkorn Memorial holiday on October 22.

The skywalk is now open to tourists between 7:30 am to 6 pm daily for an entrance fee of 40 THB per person.

The viewing decks can only accommodate up to 100 people at a time, and special socks will be provided to avoid damaging the skywalk's glass.
