Police constable jumps into river, saves lives after suspension bridge collapses in western India

A police constable jumped into a river to save the lives of people, who had fallen into it after the collapse of a suspension bridge in western India's Gujarat.

The incident happened in Morbi district on October 30.

Visuals showed the policeman, identified as Vijay Pratapbhai Chavda, rescuing a female victim as he helped her grab hold of a rope, which was being used in the operation. The woman held on to the rope and also the constable to get closer to the shore.

The suspension bridge collapse caused a major tragedy with over 140 people losing their lives and several others left with injuries.
